Trip to the Zoo...only one week late

Here they are...the pictures you all have been waiting for...our trip to the Knoxville Zoo!

This is Davy, my sweet little cousin who is an absolute doll baby. {I'll share his story in a later post} This was also his first long road trip and trip to the zoo. I'm so happy that I got to share in that!

We started out with a super fun camel ride. {I don't have the pictures of that on my camera, seeing as I was the one riding, but I'm hoping to steal them from aunt soon} After fighting to get Davy off the camel we headed over to see the elephants. He was amazed at how big they were and LOVED them. We saw some zebras, antelope, and giraffes after the elephants.
After that we saw the lions and tigers and then headed to see the gorillas and chimps. The gorillas were so neat to watch. The one in the picture was so funny to watch. It was like he knew that people were watching him, so he had to show off. He played the entire time we were at the window. After looking at a few more animals and a quick diaper change and some Goldfish crackers, we headed to see the birds and then to the Kids Zone. Davy milked a cow, chased the goats and gave them a good hairbrushing too! We had such a fun day at the zoo and Davy made it through the whole day with no problems. But by the time we reached the exit...he was OUT!

Prayer Request

At this point, I'm not really sure who all reads this blog of mine, but if you are of praying faith, then please, join me in lifting up a prayer to a friend of mine, Dwight Veon. He and his wife are mourning the going home of their infant son. I do not know a lot of details surrounding this tradgedy, but can only know that they are feeling a world of hurt and pain right now.

Dwight and I became friends when I was in middle school and we both attended the same church camp, Fort Bluff, in Dayton, TN. We kept in touch that summer, but lost touch soon after. It wasn't until recently that I came across his page on MySpace. We've since talked a few times and I found out this morning that his sweet son is now resting in the hands of Jesus.

Join me in praying that he and his wife will find comfort in each other and will lean on each other instead of away from each other. As with any tough situation, it puts a strain on a young marriage. They also have another young son, who is now dealing with the loss of his baby brother. Pray that God comfort that sweet child as well, and give him only the memories of his baby brother and not the circumstances leading to his death.

Somehow I missed a day

This week has been a little on the busy side for me. Work has been relatively slow, but somehow I manage to stay really busy. Lacey has stayed with me the past two days and I'm so thankful that she has. I'm so blessed to have such wonderful and caring people in my life. I love you sis!
Today is my little sister's birthday! Happy 17th Birthday Little Sis!

This picture was taken a couple of weeks ago on Mother's Day. {Sorry about the red eyes...I edited it on Photobucket, but for some reason it didn't save} She'll kill me if she sees this posted. Who would have known this little {BIG} girl here is a model?!?! She's still pretty no matter what!

Last night a friend of mine, Jennifer, and I went to dinner at Don Pablos. That was the first time I had ever been there, and it was yummy! Thanks Jen for dinner!

I haven't forgotten about the pictures of the zoo. I promise I'm getting to it, I just keep forgetting my camera! It's on the top of my list for things to do tonight/tomorrow. Until then, just keep checking back :) I know my posts have just been sort of random, but for right now, my life is random. I did get a couple of new books and I hope to start on one tonight while doing laundry, so maybe I'll let you in on what I'm reading once I get that started.

Little things here and there

I haven't yet posted pictures of the zoo. I'm working on it, I just haven't had time to upload them to my computer yet. Maybe tomorrow. Until then, you'll just have to wait to see what a good time we had!
My wonderful sister Lacey is coming to stay with me tonight. This week has been just awful {more on that at a later time} so she's coming to work her magic and make things all better.
Work was good today. Not too busy at the Real Estate office, and Gymboree was easy too. New line is out at Gymboree...check out the website...lots of CUTE, CUTE, CUTE stuff!
Laura and I went to lunch today, and I'm so glad we did. Laura is a dear friend, and I'm so blessed I met her when I did. She's helped me through a lot this week {again, more on that at a later time} and I don't know what I would do without her. So, Laura, if you read this, THANK YOU!
It's possible that you will get a double dose of me tonight, as I have some time on my hands before Lacey gets here. If you're reading, leave a comment, let me know who you are...I would love to "meet" you!

Browsing Blogs

Earlier, as I was browsing others blogs I found my new favorite. Nitty.Gritty. I can't remember how I found it, but by clicking and clicking I stumbled upon it, and Wow I'm moved. I have some of her recent posts, as well as the story of her young daughter and have instantly become more thankful and faithful as a result. Her story is real, there is nothing fake in her faith and belief in the Lord. It is amazing. I'm looking forward to reading more or her encouraging words.

Sunny Saturday

Today was such a pretty, sunny day. I woke up early this morning and got Axle all taken care of and headed off to Jamestown for a family day. I'm so glad I went. It was so good to see some of my family that I don't get to see that often. We had a fun day just relaxing at Uncle Lanny and Uncle Johnny's. And of course, we ate :-)
I had every intention of going to the cemetery to "visit" my Aunt Zelma. I didn't make it there. The hurt is still just as great as it was back when she first went to heaven. It's been three years. I haven't been back to her gravesite since the day she was laid to rest there. I know in my heart that it's just a headstone there, that she's watching over me from above, but I feel like I should go. But, as I was driving back home, I realized that I don't have to go to her grave to visit her or to talk to her. I can talk to her whenever and wherever. And that's what I did. I miss her. I miss her more than anyone will ever truly comprhend. I don't think some people realize just how much of an impact she made on my life.
Tomorrow is a busy day for me. Tonia and Dennis and Davy (aunt, uncle, and baby cousin) are visiting in Knoxville tonight and tomorrow, and tomorrow we are going to the zoo. I can't wait to just spend some time with Davy. I miss that special little baby and hate that I'm missing him growing up. Expect lots of pictures from the zoo!

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog: Journey Through Life. I'm not new by any means to the blogging world. I have kept a blog on MySpace since my junior year of high school. I look back and read some of the entries sometimes, and finally decided that it's time to start somewhere fresh. I'm sure I'll still update my blog from time to time there, but for the most part, you'll find me here :-)

I'm still working on my page so check back often for updates!
